Snoopy and Friend is a product of my memories of early childhood and family time. The people and characters remind me of when I was a child, I watched cartoons and played with my toys with my brothers and sisters. Those were easy, enjoyable, and safe times. The dark background conveys the frightening world that surrounded us outside those moments, the warm ground and some brightly-colored figures show how those memories stick. The trees make the scene look safe, as my family and friends did while I was in the Boy Scouts of America. They made me feel welcome, supported, and safe. This work causes me to think of how the events that happened to me when I was young are still shaping who I am today.
