I created Ocean Doll Blues using a canvas, a hot glue gun, molding paste, a tongue depressor, acrylic paints, and Styrofoam shapes that I altered to suit their needs.
I also incorporated feathers, a wooden board, and some things I found, like a doll and a fake jewel, to spice up the piece a bit and give it some extra life. I used a tongue depressor to shape and spread the molding paste. It created textures that resembled waves in the water.
This piece also resembles a checkerboard with a lot of brushstrokes and layers of acrylic paint. Due to this, the water looked scared and moving. The basic concept of this story is a woman is in danger because a sea monster is about to hurt her. These components work in concert to make the viewer feel uncomfortable and navigate the image with their eyes.
This makes danger, emotion, and movement appear. This image appears like an underwater world where thoughts and feelings mix. The doll floats on its own in deep blue, authentic, down-level waves. This gives you a feeling of both serenity and anxiety that you can't quite ignore. The thick, layered materials let the water feel heavy, and the bright, blazing patterns let it look as if something is moving or threatening nearby. This is an innocent, vulnerable person who appears caught between fun and safety.
