"Things that stay the same as we grow up give us a lot of comfort. Snoopy and his friends have always been more than just watercolor on a page. They are like mirrors of our own childhoods, showing our worries, our small wins, and the simple, fierce loyalty of being "friends for life."
I wanted to take these characters out of their usual black-and-white world and put them in a colorful, watercolor scene. I am looking at the space between the structured world of comic strips and the fluid, often messy world we live in by using bright primary colors and a soft, bleeding background.
The sun and mountains in the distance show how big the world is, but the characters in the foreground are still very close to each other. It is a celebration of the "security blanket" that real friendship gives us. It reminds us that no matter how much our lives change, the people (and beagles) who really know us are what makes the journey worth it.
